What if my side projects kept working when I wasn't?

Night Shift is my ongoing experiment in directing autonomous AI agents to research, build and ship software. I set priorities and judge what is useful; agents do substantial implementation. Some projects become products; others are experiments.

I'm interested in what happens when the bottleneck shifts from writing code to deciding what should exist.

What I did, and what the team did

Mine

  • Priorities, briefs, review, and the call on what ships.

Team

  • AI agents do substantial implementation; the code is largely agent-authored.

What changed

  • Agents are fast and literal. The work moves to writing the brief and judging the result.
  • Most experiments should stay experiments. Deciding which ones is the job.
